Two New Organizations Join
Community Shares Non-Profit Federation
                 
CLEVELAND- Greater Cleveland Community Shares announced that the InterReligious Task Force on Central America (IRTF) and InterAct Cleveland have become its newest members. Community Shares is a membership organization of local non-profits dedicated to promoting social justice and making local neighborhoods stronger. Since its founding in 1984, Shares has invested $13 million in Greater Cleveland’s neighborhoods.

“IRTF and InterAct Cleveland illustrate the breadth of commitment people from across belief systems have in social justice. Both of these organizations work tirelessly to unite those of different religions behind critical issues such as equality, poverty, and peace,” said Cynthia Ries, executive director of Community Shares.

“As Community Shares members continue to fight for those who have been disempowered, IRTF and InterAct Cleveland serve as a reminder that we must bring many different communities together in order to create effective change. Their work will only enhance and deepen the impact of Shares members on our community,” continued Ries.

IRTF has been in existence for 28 years and educates, advocates and organizes for peace, human rights and economic justice.  They work to change US policies, corporate practices and consumer behaviors that undermine this vision.

InterAct Cleveland promotes mutual understanding and appreciation of diverse religious beliefs and practices, as well as discovery of the values and beliefs shared by many faith traditions. InterAct Cleveland members actively engage with one another to help shape positive responses to the challenges and opportunities facing Greater Cleveland, including religious diversity itself.
